Known as one of the NBA’s greatest facilitators with a basketball in his hands, Jason Kidd proved on Tuesday night that he’s capable of zipping in accurate passes with a different kind of ball.

With the Texas Rangers celebrating Dallas Mavericks Night at Globe Life Field as they took on the Arizona Diamondbacks, J-Kidd was given the honor of representing the organization by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before the game.

Jason will soon be focusing hard with his new staff during the upcoming NBA Draft on Thursday, July 29, and free agency a few days later, but this was a moment to remember for him, as he was able to toss out a pass to Rangers pitcher Taylor Hearn, who gave Jason a little pitching advice before the throw.

Though J-Kidd hasn’t played organized baseball since high school, it’s always been a passion of his, he nearly even played at the college level when he committed to the California Golden Bears. In fact, he even attempted to persuade the Mavericks to let him play during the offseason after his rookie year.

Jason may be a bit preoccupied with his new job with the Mavericks to help the Rangers’ staff, but we can now officially put any doubts to rest about J-Kidd’s ability to deliver on the mound.
