In a normal year, the 2020 NBA Finals would just be getting underway. But this is far from a normal year. Still the NBA has given fans an early June reason to rejoice.
The NBA has announced plans to form a bubble environment in Orlando later this summer that will allow them to finish the 2019-20 regular season with a truncated schedule and proceed on to the playoffs, while keeping players, coaches and team employees safe from COVID-19. Each team invited to the bubble, which includes 22 teams fighting for 16 playoff spots, will arrive during a week-long window in early July. They will undergo a short training camp to ramp back up into shape, play three exhibition/warmup games and then begin an eight-game seeding schedule in late July. The playoffs will begin in Mid-August with the Finals scheduled to begin in late September and conclude in October.
