Locked in a tight battle wire-to-wire for a third straight game, Jason Kidd and the New York Knicks needed a break to go their way on Wednesday night.

Fortunately with as much experience as New York has on defense, it’s possible to make your own breaks.

Despite a 54-point showing from Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, the Knicks shut the Warriors offense down over the final two minutes on Wednesday night, including a crucial block by Raymond Felton on Curry and scored the final four points to secure a 109-105 victory, their second straight.

"My main thing is to keep playing," Felton said. "Once a guy gets it going like that, there’s nothing I can really do. I’ve got to stay in mind-set, still play my game, and I was still able to come up with some big plays at the end. We all came up with some big plays to get that win."

J-Kidd played 18 minutes in the win and contributed two rebounds, an assist and a block of his own.

As Curry and the Knicks went back and forth, the game lacked a single dull moment. Carmelo Anthony scored 35 points and tallied eight assists while Tyson Chandler grabbed a career-high 28 rebounds in addition to 16 points.

Still it almost wasn’t enough because of Curry. The Knicks fought all night to keep the Warriors’ guard, who notched a season-high 38 points the night before, in check. But he stayed red-hot, dropping 27 points in the first half, including 23 points alone in the second quarter.

Despite the rapid fire shooting assault Curry brought, the Knicks kept pushing back. Anthony was extremely active for the Knicks offensively, scoring 18 points himself in the first half, and any shots the Knicks did happen to miss were likely snatched up by Chandler. All that was missing early was defense, but Chandler said afterward that New York was kind of at Curry’s mercy.

"There’s nothing we could have done," the Knicks center admitted. "We threw a lot of different looks at him. He’s a special young player with a very unique talent the way he shoots the ball. We ran everything at him. I thought our guards got into him defensively. He just got hot. There was a couple of shots where he shot it and he couldn’t have seen the rim."

But it was an area the Knicks are often heavily criticized for that became a crucial component in their victory Wednesday night.

In the waning moments of the fourth quarter and the game tied, the Warriors decided to go with their hot shooter in Curry. Chandler saw it coming, called it out, and Felton was able to perfectly defend Curry’s shot; blocking it in fact. J.R. Smith followed with a jumper to give the Knicks a 107-105 lead and Anthony capped the game off with a 10 foot fade-away jumpshot with 45.6 seconds remaining in the fourth to complete an all-around team dominated win.
