Half of Jason Kidd’s 16th season is in the books and it has already been a record-breaking year.
J-Kidd’s alley-oop pass to rookie Roddy Beaubois November 25th would have gone unnoticed had it not been his 10,337th assist. With that pass, he soared past Mark Jackson to grab the No. 2 spot on the NBA career assists list.
The all-time assists list isn’t the only one J-Kidd has been climbing this season.

He passed Eddie Jones on the all-time three-pointers list when he sunk his 1,547th longshot on January 10th. J-Kidd now sits in the No. 6 spot.
He also moved to the No. 6 spot on the all-time steals list when he swiped the ball from Ryan Gomes on November 13th. He told the Star-Telegram how he’s perfected the art of thievery.
"Just being around the ball, seeing the floor and knowing what other players are likely to do is important. Look back at Stock’s career. At both ends of the court, he was involved in just about every play. I don’t think he gets enough credit for his career. People talk about championships and we all want to win them. But some of the guys who don’t still have some of the best careers. Stock put those numbers so far out there, I don’t know if anybody will ever touch them."
SEEING DOUBLE
Along with being surrounded by NBA legends on prestigious lists, J-Kidd has been racking up double-doubles all season.
No. 2 grabbed his 15th double-double of the season February 8th against Golden State. The Mavericks have gone 11-4 when J-Kidd puts up double digits.
SHARING THE LOVE
J-Kidd has been making noise on and off the hardwood this season. When he wasn’t busy doubling up on the court, No. 2 spent his holidays spreading cheer to children all over Dallas.
He received the NBA Cares Community Assist Award in December for his righteous deeds over the holiday season. J-Kidd treated 50 children from the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center to a shopping spree, made a donation to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital to be spent on toys and handed out gifts at the Christmas in the Park event.
No. 2 said he enjoys giving back to the community that has given him so much.
"Giving back to the community is very important to me because the community has given me so much throughout my career," Kidd said. "Fan support has really kept me going and it means a lot to me. I’ve been so lucky to have a career doing what I love. I love helping others-good service to others is what brings you true happiness."
SUNDAY’S BEST
J-Kidd and fellow Maverick Dirk Nowitzki represented the home team in Sunday night’s 2010 NBA All-Star Game at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.
J-Kidd played only 6:11 but managed a steal of Derrick Rose, an assist to Zach Randolph and two defensive rebounds off misses from Rose and Al Horford. Nowitzki scored 22 points for the West, but the East prevailed 141-139.
