Jason and the Dallas Mavericks were unable to find their offensive identity while playing the injury-plagued Spurs, and as a result, they suffered another road loss to a playoff contender.
A 9-0 run ignited by J.Kidd’s transition jumper to start the game was unable to be sustained as the Mavs had their worst offensive outing of the season in a 93-76 loss to the Spurs.
Mavs Moneyball broke down the offensive numbers for Dallas:
“In terms of offensive efficiency, that was the Mavs worst game of the season (85.5 points per 100 possessions). It was their worst game in eFG% (36%—13% below season average). Really no surprise, but it was also season lows in FG%, TS%, and points.”
Jason didn’t reach double-digit assists for the first time in the last 11 games, which led to the Mavs only having 7 fast break points when they have recently averaged 17.9. Still, No.2 had a solid all-around game as his 4 assists and 2 assists were team highs, and he also added 6 boards and 2 points.
NEXT UP
The Mavs return to the friendly confines of Airlines Arena where they are 19-8 on the season for a 3-game home stand.
The home stand begins against the Bucks Wednesday night at 7:30 pm CST. After suffering their worst loss of the season to the Bucks in late January, the Mavs will be looking to regain their fast break form and run all over Milwaukee.
Ramon Sessions, the point guard for the Bucks, talked with USA Today about being excited to play against Jason and Chris Paul, who are the two guards he will face next:
“Definitely looking forward to him and Jason Kidd. Jason Kidd is a guy I watched growing up. Chris Paul is kind of a younger generation.”
