With a 91-76 home win over the Memphis Grizzlies Friday night, Jason and the streaking Mavericks racked up a fourth straight victory, all driven by tremendous team defense.

The net result: Dallas is one game under .500 at 6-7.

After defeating Memphis, Jason talked about his team’s defensive effort to the Dallas Morning News:

“One shot, limit teams to one shot. That gives us a chance to get out and run. When we play defense like that, and rebound, we’re pretty good.”

It was a pretty good night for Jason, too. He ended the contest with a game-high 13 rebounds, 18 points and six assists. As he said to the Star-Telegram:

“Sometimes guys get going, J.T. and Dirk, but [Friday] guys were finding me and I was just knocking down shots when they presented themselves.”

Coach Rick Carlisle however attributed the spark to Jason himself:

“We were frustrated at halftime as a team because we had not played particularly well and our energy had been inconsistent. So, Jason took it upon himself to energize the game for us.”

No. 2 was to the point, though, when talking about winning.

"When we play defense, that gives us a good chance to win.”
