Tuesday night, for perhaps the first time all season, Jason and the Mavericks played the quick, controlled hoops they’ve wanted to play, and the result was promising.

Dallas built up a 15-0 lead over the Bobcats (3-7) only seven minutes into the game and never looked back, and No. 2 finished with two points, five rebounds and 10 assists in a 100-83 win.
WORKLOAD
With the largest margin of victory thus far this season, coach Rick Carlisle was able to rest his regulars such as Jason for tonights rematch with Houston. The Star-Telegram writes:
“Not only did the victory provide the first blowout of the season and the first winning streak as the Mavs prepare for a rematch against Houston tonight at the Toyota Center, it allowed Carlisle a chance to reduce the recent heavy work-load on his regulars.
Nowitzki wound up playing 37 minutes and Josh Howard (21 points) logged 35, but that’s comparatively a light night. Jason Kidd (two points, 10 assists) benefited most, playing 33 minutes, his shortest stint in eight games.”
CHARACTER
Looking towards what Jason and the Mavs’ hopes to be a three-game win streak tonight in Houston, Jason was asked about the five-game skid early in the season. The Dallas Morning News quoted Jason:
“Sometimes you dream about starting off undefeated. But sometimes it’s good to go through something that’s going to test a team and see where our character is. Are we going to give into the slow start or fight our way out? And this is a group of guys that’s going to fight their way out.”
NEXT UP
