Sunday night, after suffering through a five-game losing skid, Jason led the Mavericks out of the L column, and got them a W.
In his comfort zone in the Garden, J-Kidd won a thriller over the Knicks (6-4) in OT 124-114. Jason had three points, six rebounds and 9 assists. Everyone-Jason, Carlisle, and owner Mark Cuban alike-felt like a weight was off their shoulders. Jason said to the Dallas Morning News:
“I enjoy the Garden. It was a perfect night for us to come here. We needed a win, and I feel comfortable here.”
Carlisle felt good about the win, a total 180 from Friday night, seeing a glimpse of what’s to come. The Dallas Morning News quoted Carlisle:
“They got some fight in them. They really do. It’s been a tough stretch, and they kept believing in each other.”
Cuban was even more elated, and talked about how pleased he has been with Jason. . The Star-Telegram reported:
“Jason Kidd has been our best player by far. There’s no question about. It’s a win-win. J-Kidd has just been phenomenal, so it’s been a win-win trade.”
FRIDAY NIGHT BLUES
The Mavericks fell to to Orlando (7-3) in Dallas Friday night,102-100, No. 2 had 13 points, 7 rebounds and six assists. Coach Rick Carlisle vowed to the Star-Telegram:
“We’re going to fight out of this somehow.”
Sunday night, they did.
