In four of the first six games that Jason and Dallas had played so far this season, he came tantalizingly close to getting his 101st triple double.
Tuesday night, he got it.
In a hard-fought 106-99 loss to the visiting Los Angeles Lakers, No. 2 finished with 16 points, 10 assists and 11 rebounds. Still, his personal achievement was less important than the ultimate result: the Mavericks lost their fifth game in seven contests.
After the game, Jason told the Associated Press that Dallas failed to put a complete performance together.
“We got the stops when we had to, but we couldn’t get the ball in the basket on the other end.”
Though the Mavericks (2-5) led for portions of the game, the Lakers (6-0) found a way to power past the Mavs’ in the smallest margin of victory thus far this season. The AP reports:
“Yet even with the Dallas Mavericks getting terrific games out of Jason Kidd and Erick Dampier, Kobe Bryant and friends found a way to pull out another one.”
