Dallas coach Rick Carlisle talked all preseason long about the fast paced running game Jason would help the Mavericks run this season.
But in their win over the Spurs Tuesday night, it was Dallas’ slow, half-court game down the stretch — with Jason running the same play every possession — that helped get the Mavs the win.
The Dallas Morning News quoted Carlisle speaking about Jason:
“
[Jason’s] a great player, and we put him and Dirk in that one action on the left side and he generated a lot of good stuff. We want to be a ball-movement team, but in certain situations, you’ve got to put the ball in the hands of your best players and they’re going to have to carry you through some rough stretches.”Jason agreed with Carlisle:
“We scored quite a few times and got some great looks out of it. As a team, we’re trying to find out what we can go to down the stretch, what we feel comfortable with.
FIGURING IT OUT
With Jason’s three-pointers on Tuesday night, he tied Dan Majerle (1,360) for 10th all-time on the NBA’s three-point field goals list. The Mavs have started to get on the same page and Jason is more comfortable. J-Kidd talked to the Dallas Morning News:“Some nights we’re going to look like we’re on the same page. And some nights – hopefully, we get them out of our system – we’ll look like we’re kind of confused. Once we get past that stage and everybody’s comfortable, we’ll be fine.”
NEXT UP
Friday night Jason and the Mavs’ will travel the Denver to take on the Nuggets. Tip is at 9:30pm on ESPN.RELATED STORIES
