Monday night, at the head of a four-game week for his Milwaukee Bucks team, Jason Kidd headed to the House of Peace, a Capuchin ministry, to spread some holiday cheer.
Coach Kidd served 150 Thanksgiving turkey dinners to Milwaukee-area families, as well as some Bucks winter gear to help keep his fans warm during the coming winter.
“This is a time of giving and receiving, and I’d like to wish everyone a healthy holiday,” Jason said at the event. “Thank you so much.”
The event was a part of the House of Peace Holiday Food Basket Program, which works in conjunction with several businesses in the community, as well as the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
After serving up turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and more to the event’s guests, Jason took the time to thank the fans for their support.
“We talk about the Milwaukee Bucks, it is a game and hopefully we don’t disappoint you on a nightly basis,” Coach Kidd said. “We’re out there trying our best, we’re fighting and playing hard. We’re a young group, but we’re here to represent Milwaukee.”
At one point, a “Fear the Deer” chant broke out as Jason spoke. His young Milwaukee team (8-7) is currently on pace to make the playoffs and finish above .500, just one year after tallying just 15 wins and garnering the NBA’s worst record.
“You guys make us go,” Jason told the fans. “We love to hear you guys. Even if we’re struggling a little bit, your spirit lifts us up. I’d like thank you guys for your support, and we look forward to seeing you in the playoffs. Enjoy this holiday time.”
