As a part of our ongoing theme weeks here at JasonKidd.com, we want to not only highlight Jason’s incredible body of basketball work, but also give you, the fans, a chance to have a say by interacting through his Facebook Fan Page.
In addition, we’ll be looking each week for our JasonKidd.com Fan of the Week. Every Friday afternoon, we’ll ask a trivia question on Jason’s Facebook Fan Page about Jason in regard to the theme for the upcoming week. One fan who correctly answers the trivia question in the comments section of the post will be chosen as the Fan of the Week.
Our latest question, posted on Friday, November 18th was: Jason was a starter in Dallas’ title-clinching Game 6 Finals win. Can you name the four players who rounded out the starting five?
The question received dozens of correct responses noting that the starting five consisted of J-Kidd, Dirk Nowitzki, JJ Barea, Shawn Marion and Tyson Chandler. But of those correct answers, only one could be chosen as the winner.
Here’s a Q&A with this week’s winner, the JasonKidd.com Fan of the Week, Marlia Cha:
Marlia, congrats on being named the JasonKidd.com Fan of the Week, tell us a little about yourself.
I am 21 years of age from Portland, Oregon and currently a senior at University of Portland. I also work part-time as a barista.
How long have you been a fan of Jason Kidd?
I became a fanatic sports fan a couple of years ago and that’s when it all started. In terms of length, I am a new Jason Kidd fan who can’t believe that I missed out on so much in his decorative career, but I’m so glad I didn’t miss out on some of the best moments.
What is it that you like about Jason Kidd?
The first team that I ever rooted for was the Dallas Mavericks. The ’08 season would bring much change to that franchise. The trade for Kidd really sparked my interest in him. I found out he was originally drafted by the Mavericks and was coming back. I didn’t understand much of sports jargon back then, but I began to notice the change Kidd brought to the team and I realized that he is one of those special basketball players that I’m glad to have lived to see play.
Ever since then, I became an admirer of his unique basketball talent and his NBA journey.
What’s your favorite J-Kidd moment? Why?
I have too many favorite moments to choose from. The one that tops them all was the 2011 Larry O’Brien Trophy presentation. Seeing Kidd celebrate with joy made me automatically reflect on how he got there. For me, this moment exemplifies Kidd’s resiliency throughout his basketball career. It was also very inspiring to see how hard work and effort really does payoff.
What do you think makes Jason such a great player?
I’m a fan of Jason Kidd, because he is an unselfish basketball player who makes those around him better and because of what he brings to the sport. Kidd is so artistic and clever in his basketball techniques. There are countless moments when I’m in awe of how he makes a beautiful pass to a teammate or how he makes such a smart play. His patience and perseverance in trying to reach his goals really inspires me to overcome my own obstacles and work hard in life.
Congratulations again to Marlia for being named the JasonKidd.com Fan of the Week. Look out on Friday for our next Fan of the Week trivia contest and make sure you Like Jason’s page on Facebook so you can participate. Here’s a hint for this week: The theme is Jason’s stops in the pros. Good Luck!
