Jason Kidd and the Dallas Mavericks continued their tireless pursuit of the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference by edging the Los Angeles Clippers 117-94 last night.

After their victory, the Mavs can’t be seeded any lower than No. 3 and will clinch the No. 2 spot without playing tonight if Denver wins in Phoenix or if Utah loses at Golden State.

Jason logged a double-double in last night’s blowout with a dozen each in the points and assists columns. One of his passes in particular made the crowd drop their jaws and get on their feet.

With 23 seconds remaining in the first half, J-Kidd watched as the Clippers gave the ball away on a bad pass, Jason swooped in to pick up the loose ball.

On his way to the bucket for an easy two, J-Kidd saw teammate Shawn Marion streaking down the left side of the court out of the corner of his eye. Without a motion in Marion’s direction Jason successfully executed a beautiful alley-oop pass. No. 2 kissed the pass off the backboard as if participating in a slam dunk contest and Marion came surging in, throwing down the rebound for a thunderous slam dunk.

If you didn’t catch it last night, you can watch the jaw-dropping pass right here.
