Monday night against the Golden State Warriors, Jason Kidd was dealing dimes and draining long range jumpers from the outside.

The result was precisely what you’d expect.

No. 2 collected his 15th double-double of the season in a 127-117 Dallas victory, racking up 17 points — 12 of which came on 4-6 shooting from downtown.He also dished out 12 assists, pulled down four rebounds and picked off three steals.

The steals were the 11th, 12th and 13th for Jason in the last three games. He’s currently tied for sixth in the league in steals per game at 1.84. But if he continues to keep up the pace he’s set over the last three games of 4.3 thefts per game, No. 2 could easily lap the leaders soon enough.

Jason’s 12 assists on Monday night also were the NBA’s high for the night. Monday marked J-Kidd’s 24th double-digit assist game this season. At 9.3 assists per game, No. 2 ranks fifth in the league. Oddly, he’s also averaging 9.3 points per game this season.

KIDD HELPS THE KID
Mavericks rookie Roddy Beaubois still has a lot to learn about the NBA, but he’s found a great teacher in J-Kidd.

No. 2 told the Star-Telegram that he often talks to the rookie before and after games.

"But the best is to talk during games when things are happening," Kidd said. "When I see he might have done something at practice, I tell him, ‘Hey, stay down on your feet. You’re better with your length when you contest the shot, and if he makes it, he makes it. We got to cut down on the fouls.’ And that’s just one example of what we talk about."

The veteran – rookie chats have proved to be successful, as Beaubois scored a career-high 17 points against the Minnesota Timberwolves Friday night. Beaubois said he’s lucky to have a role model like J-Kidd.
