Jason Kidd dished out 13 assists, grabbed 10 boards and scored five points — just five points short of a triple double — but the Mavericks fell to a shorthanded yet motivated Golden State team, 111-103.
Even in a losing effort, J-Kidd and teammate Dirk Nowitzki have proven to be staples on the court and head coach Rick Carlisle usually has one of them on the floor at all times, as noted to the Dallas Morning News:
"We all know that when I sit out too long, I get a little stiff," Nowitzki said. "It just gets me in and out quicker. Plus, it lets Jason [Terry] in the game with J-Kidd for a while, and they can get a nice little rhythm going."
The two starters, Kidd and Nowitzki, have led the Mavericks in assists and points, respectively. No. 2 has led his team in assists for the past eight games, with a total of 85.
During that span, J-Kidd has gone for double digit assists four times. His 13 on Tuesday night were the second most he’s had this season, behind only a 17-assist outburst in Milwaukee last week.

J-Kidd will look to keep dishing out the dimes tonight when the Mavs face the Houston Rockets at 7:30 p.m. CST in Houston. The game can be seen on KTXA.
It’s the second meeting between the two Western Conference powers this season. Dallas took a 121-103 victory at home on November 10. J-Kidd dished out 11 assists in the win.
