Despite any impact it might have on his golf game, Jason is eagerly anticipating the Beijing Olympics, and a chance to bring the basketball gold medal back to America.
As he jokingly told the Associated Press on Wednesday while preparing to promote the 19th annual American Century Celebrity Golf Championship at Lake Tahoe.:
“I try to get out at least three times a week, but with the Olympics this year, it’s kind of cutting into my golf schedule. I was excited that you guys made (the Tahoe event) in between the Olympic practices,” Kidd said. “I’m representing my country in Beijing and this gives me a chance to relax before we try to win a gold medal.”
Taking top honors at the Olympics, he explained, is anything but a foregone conclusion.
“I think it is a great challenge. The last time we’ve had success was in 2000. The world has gotten better at the game of basketball. Going into this Olympics is not going to be easy,” Kidd said. “But I’m looking forward to the challenge. My season ended early so I’m a little antsy to get back to playing basketball.”
